Hi Neighbor - Chia Sisters
Hi there,
With respect for the millions of stories that are playing out right now in our world, I'm stopping by to check in on you. Life is rich right now, that's my secret code for a heady mix of joy and sorrow, with a light sprinkling of tiredness and uncertainty, and miracles of beauty so profound, the tears slip quietly down your face.
I'm reviewing my wish for you from January,"that you feel the way you want to feel.", and it's as good a place to start as any. I wrote the following words to you, and really, they are just as relevant now, except maybe the holiday part.
There's a lot going on in the world, there always is. Perhaps you are feeling an odd indigestion over the cocktail of holiday fun, holiday stress, holiday food, and the world as it experiences pain and change.
If you need a reminder, time spent in a healthy outdoors is a spiritual practice. It is a kindness to yourself and the people around you to continue to find playfulness and wellness.
I have so much I want to share with you on this full moon day.
We all have work, play and healing to do together. Enjoy the wellness and follow the links that attract you, I'm going to put a whole lot of options in this letter.
Below is a new section called In the Neighborhood, a tribute to my childhood friend, Mr. Rogers. (And since this is Americana we are talking about, I'm keeping the spelling for these words, my lovely Kiwi friends).
I really did grow up with him on my PBS channel, black and white television, taking his shoes off as he came in the door, then weaving his magical, kind journey for me. He sang a song that had the words:
It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a neighbor,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine? It's a neighborly day in this beautywood,
A neighborly day for a beauty,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you,
I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.
And then, at the end of the song, he'd say, "Hi neighbor" and look at me and smile. I thought he was really just talking to me. I think we all did.
Some years ago, I found this video-six minutes of Mr. Rogers talking to the US Senate Subcommittee on Communications. He was asking for the funding to PBS to not be cut. And after watching it, he also became my adult teacher.
For this first In the Neighborhood, I'm introducing you to Chia Sisters, the beautiful, fit, smart sister pair who have brought vitality to juice in the most mindful way.
With respect, Neighbor, Becky
In the Neighborhood
I met the Chia Sisters, pictured striding out above, through SheEO (a network of women in business who provide interest free loans to other women in business). Chia sisters was one of the 5 businesses chosen last year by our cohort here in New Zealand, to support them in their business growth. Not just because they have a great product, but because of the WAY they do business. It's my pleasure to introduce you to this Nelson based business.

I do love telling stories with pictures, and I do love a good entrepreneurial story, so below is a gorgeous timeline of when the Chia Sisters got going, what they care about, and what they've achieved in a fairly short space of time.
Innovation, devotion to quality, real nutrition and sustainability, Chia sisters are leading the way in New Zealand.
As with many businesses, Chia Sisters were deeply impacted by the Covid 19 measures, and their main service to cafes has meant a deep decline in sales. The Sunday Star Times published their day by day diary of emotions and decision making as they supported their customers and consumers.
Thank you for supporting local when we need it the most.
More Neighbourhood
I'm sure you've discovered some great new resources, gives, learning and self-care practices. Every day I'm blown away at the creativity and generosity that is coming through. Below are a few of the resources I've bumped into along the way. I've added a Facebook post for you to share your favourite things so that we can all connect to the support and goodness that is around us.
Les Mills Classes
Les Mills has introduced classes online. Me and the family have been doing the Body Balance ones, if you are very entry level they'll feel a bit fast, just enjoy the movement you get, and go easy. Also, make sure you stay through to the resting at the end, that's the most important part.
Banff festival videos are available!
Be inspired by the adventure wherever you are. Here's Digg's collection of videos available to watch for free.
Kings Seeds are Shipping
With seeds you are 3 days away from greens, so easy to do. I've got a sprout post coming to you in May where I'll introduce you to the grooviest sprout bag maker ever.
Yin Yoga
Quite honestly, I am enjoying this woman's voice so much that I just keep coming back to her channel. Maris is so settled and capable and loving in her teaching style. After a hectic day of business and computer, she is just the ticket to downshift the nervous system. If you haven't stretched before, even with this slow style of yoga, just make sure you start nice and easy. She's got a great range of styles and levels on her channel.
