Sun FAQ
Why is the UV Index important?
The UV index is a free service provided by Niwa that predicts and records Ultraviolet (UV) radiation for different locations in New Zealand. This index is a tool for understanding the speed at which burning can occur. This is more useful than how “hot” it is outdoors, as there may be a very cool wind on the face, and yet the UV index quite high, which means burning time will be shorter than it feels like it would be. It is recommended that you wear sunscreen anytime the UV index is 4 and above, or when you will be outdoors for a long period of time. You can access the UV index here.
